How to determine if your issue relates to incident 525.

Verifone provides FAQs for incident 525 and in that document they refer to the June 25, 2019 deadline. "If you do not download the recommended utility to your terminal before June 25th, 2019, your terminal may be at risk of entering a reboot loop and unable to accept payments. Terminals running CommServer Versions prior to version 5.4.4 or the VX 680 and VX 820 Duet running SoftPay with Comm Server prior to 4.9.3 could be affected." If your business is impacted by Incident 525, please raise a ticket through the Verifone Support Portal or call 1-800-837-4366, Option 2 to make sure Verifone will get you the proper support.

Verifone Keyboard Locked

If your Verifone terminal keyboard is locked when you try to process a transaction, most of the time it gets locked accidentally. The most common issue is the user holds the “8” key too long, locking the terminal keypad.

To unlock the Verifone VX 520 keypad and other terminals

  1. Push the “8” button 
  2. The terminal will prompt you for the manager password
  3. Enter 1 Alpha Alpha 66831 and hit enter.
  4. Select “no” on the options to unlock the keyboard
Verifone Reboot Loop

Instructions if your Verifone credit card terminal keyboard is stuck in reboot loop.

Follow these steps to correct it:

  1. At the right of the screen there are four “f” buttons
  2. Press “f2” and “f4” at the same time
  3. Enter the manager password, 1 Alpha Alpha 66831 and hit “enter”
  4. After device reboots press “1” to select edit parameters and hit “enter” again
  5. Enter the manger password again: 1 Alpha Alpha 66831 and hit “enter”
  6. Hit “enter” again and press “1” to edit parameter.
  7. Add new parameter, select the red “x” and using the number pad and the “Alpha” key enter DHEAP then hit “enter” (if your make an error or entered the number, use the yellow button to go back)
  8. Enter the value “0” and hit “enter” and the red ”X” and the “3” to restart the terminal
